ABOUT Vermicelli upma RECIPE

Maks an upma with vermicelli. I like the sweet version but my other family members like this salty one with vegetables. so when we have sewayin for breakfast,we make both the versions.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 cup roasted vermicelli/ sewayin
  2. 2 cups water
  3. 3/4 cup chopped vegetables ( carrot, capsicum,peas,beans,baby corn)
  4. 1 onion
  5. 1 tbsp oil
  6. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  7. 10-12 curry leaves
  8. 1-2 green chillies
  9. Coriander,for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a wok.
  2. Add mustard seeds and Curry leaves.
  3. When mustard seeds splutter,add onion and saute till translucent.
  4. Add all the chopped vegetables and green chillies.
  5. Add salt and saute for 2-3 mins.
  6. Add water and let it come to boil.
  7. Add vermicelli and cook on high flame till the water evaporates.
  8. Cover and cook for 1-2 mins and then switch off the gas.
  9. Serve hot garnished with coriander.
