Raw Mango Rice

Ingredients to make Raw Mango Rice

  • 1 1/2 cups regular rice
  • salt as per taste
  • oil as required
  • 1 1/2 cups peeled, chopped raw unripe mango or 250 grams raw mangoes, chopped
  • 3 to 4 dry red chilies, broken and deseeded
  • 1 green chili/hari mirch, chopped
  • 2 tsp peanuts/moongphali
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds/rai
  • 1 tablespoon chana dal
  • 1 tablespoon urad dal
  • A pinch of asafoetida/hing
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder/haldi
  • 1 sprig curry leaves/kadi patta
  • 12 to 15 curry leaves

How to make Raw Mango Rice

  1. Cook the rice and keep aside.
  2. Peel and chop 1 mango.
  3. In a pan heat 3 tbsp oil, add peanuts and fry well. K
  4. in the same pan add chana daal, urad daal and fry till golden in color. Add rai, green chilli, red chilli and fry well.
  5. Add curry patta, hing and peanuts. Saute for 5 minutes.
  6. Add in the mango and mix everything well. Add salt, turmeric and mix.
  7. Finally add in the cooked rice, saute well for 3 minutes. Serve hot.

My Tip:

Serve raw mango rice with some fried papads or chips. You can also serve with some curd/yogurt or a pickle. While serving you can also garnish with chopped coriander leaves if you want.
