ABOUT Raw Mango Rice RECIPE

Raw mango rice recipe - spiced and tangy rice made from raw unripe green mangoes. Tempered rice made from raw mangoes are popular in andhra, karnataka and tamil nadu cuisine.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 1/2 cups regular rice
  2. Salt as per taste
  3. Oil as required
  4. 1 1/2 cups peeled, chopped raw unripe mango or 250 grams raw mangoes, chopped
  5. 3 to 4 dry red chilies, broken and deseeded
  6. 1 green chili/hari mirch, chopped
  7. 2 tsp peanuts/moongphali
  8. 1 tsp mustard seeds/rai
  9. 1 tablespoon chana dal
  10. 1 tablespoon urad dal
  11. A pinch of asafoetida/hing
  12. ¼ tsp turmeric powder/haldi
  13. 1 sprig curry leaves/kadi patta
  14. 12 to 15 curry leaves

Instructions

  1. Cook the rice and keep aside.
  2. Peel and chop 1 mango.
  3. In a pan heat 3 tbsp oil, add peanuts and fry well. K
  4. in the same pan add chana daal, urad daal and fry till golden in color. Add rai, green chilli, red chilli and fry well.
  5. Add curry patta, hing and peanuts. Saute for 5 minutes.
  6. Add in the mango and mix everything well. Add salt, turmeric and mix.
  7. Finally add in the cooked rice, saute well for 3 minutes. Serve hot.
