ABOUT Handvo cake RECIPE

Today I bring handvo cake which i make in two layers and two tastes .First is palak layer and second is plain .this is yummiest recipe as it is an authentic breakfast dish of Gujrat.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1 cup rice
  2. 1/2 Cup chana Daal
  3. 1/2 cup moong daal
  4. 2 tbspp urad daal
  5. 1/2 palak puree
  6. 1 cup curd
  7. 1 cup grated lauki
  8. 1 cup grated carrot
  9. 1 tsp ginger paste
  10. 2 chillies
  11. 1 tbsp oil
  12. 1 tbsp mustard seeds
  13. 1 tsp jeera
  14. 1/4 tsp hing
  15. 1 tsp seasme seeds
  16. 10 curry leaves
  17. coriander leaves
  18. salt as per taste
  19. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  20. 1/4 tsp haldi powder
  21. 1 lemon Juice
  22. 1 tsp sugar
  23. 1/2 tsp baking soda
  24. 1 sachet of eno
  25. 1/2 cup pomegranate pearls

Instructions

  1. Soak all daal and rice for 3-4 hours
  2. Grind them and keep whole night for fermentation
  3. Add curd and vegetables
  4. Add all spices
  5. Lemon juice and sugar
  6. Add baking soda
  7. Make tadka by heating oil
  8. Add rai,jeera and hing
  9. Add curry leaves and sesame seeds
  10. Now add half tadka in battar
  11. Devide battar in two parts
  12. Add palak puree in one part
  13. Mix finely
  14. Preheat ovan
  15. Grease mould
  16. Add eno sachet and 2 tsp water to activate eno in both battar
  17. Mix all of them finely
  18. And pour yellow battar in mould
  19. Bake it for 5 min. At 180 degree
  20. Then take mould out from ovan
  21. And pour palak battar on it
  22. Now bake it for 15 min.
  23. Insert a knife in it and check if knife come clean then handvo cake will ready
  24. Demould it after little cooling
  25. Top with remaining tadka
  26. Sprinkle sesame seeds,coriander leaves
  27. Add green chilli and pomegranate pearls
  28. Serve hot with chutney
