ABOUT Medu vadas RECIPE

Out of the south indian platter,my favorite one is medu vadas. Crispy fried vadas with hot sambhar and coconut chutney leaves you craving for more everytime.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup urad dal
  2. 1 cup split moong dal
  3. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  4. 1-2 sprig curry leaves
  5. 1-2 green chillies
  6. 1 tbsp chopped ginger
  7. 1-2 tbsp coriander leaves
  8. Salt,to taste
  9. Oil,for frying

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak both the dals for 2 hours at least.
  2. Drain the water and add the dals to a mixer grinder.
  3. Add chopped ginger,green chillies and cumin seeds.
  4. Make a batter with little water.
  5. Add salt,chopped Curry leaves and coriander leaves and mix well.
  6. Heat oil in a wok.
  7. Wet your hands a little and shape medu vadas with a hole in centre.
  8. Deep fry medu vadas on medium flame till golden brown.
  9. Drain them on an absorbent paper.
  10. Serve them hot with sambar and coconut chutney.
