Upma is a traditional breakfast in Maharashtra and Tamilnaadu. It is a perfect combination of simplicity and tasty food.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Semolina 1 cup
  2. Oil 4 spoon
  3. Black mustard 1 tsp
  4. Aaofeotida 1 pinch
  5. Tomato 1 finely chopped
  6. Green chilli 4 finely chopped
  7. Peanuts 1/4 cup
  8. Peas 1/4 cup
  9. Green Coriander 1 spoon


  1. Heat a pan on medium flame.
  2. Roast penuts till it turns to light brown.
  3. Let them cool.
  4. Heat a pan on medium flame and dry roast semolina.
  5. Stir continuously.
  6. As it starts to change color turn off the flame.
  7. Transfer it to a bowl.
  8. Heat oil in a pan.
  9. Add black mustard and roast
  10. Add green chilli and tomatoes.
  11. Roast them well.
  12. Till peel of the peanuts.
  13. When tomatoes roast well add peas and cover with lid
  14. Cook for 2 minutes.
  15. Add salt and mix well.
  16. Add semolina, and penuts.
  17. Now add 3 cup of water and stir well.
  18. Now cover with lid for 2 minutes.
  19. Take of the lid and stir continuously.
  20. When it goes thick turn off the flame.
  21. Garnish with green coriander.
  22. Serve hot.
