ABOUT Neer dosa RECIPE

Soft, thin light and lacy crepes made with rice batter. No fermentation is required for making neer dosa. Its a breakfast recipe from Karnataka.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 1 cup dosa rice (dont use Basmati rice)
  2. 1/2 cup grated fresh coconut
  3. Salt as per taste
  4. Oil for making dosa
  5. 1.5 cups or 2 cups as required

Instructions

  1. Soak 1 cup rice in enough water for 4-5hrs or overnight
  2. Drained the soaked rice and add rice along with coconut in a wet grinder jar
  3. Just add enough water for grinding the rice.if u will add more water then you won't be able to grind the rice well
  4. Grind to a smooth batter and take it in another bowl
  5. Add more water to get a thin flowing consistency.i added 2cups of water for 1cup of rice
  6. The addition of water depends on the quality of rice. So add more water as required (milk consistency)
  7. Then add salt and stir well
  8. In a cast iron or a non stick pan, drizzle 1/2tsp of oil
  9. Just spread the oil all over with a spoon or small piece of cotton kitchen napkin
  10. Stir the batter & take a ladle full of batter
  11. Then pour tht batter moving outwards to inside like the way we do for rava dosa, fill in the large gaps with some of the batter ( stir batter everytime whn u pour batter for dosa on pan)
  12. Cover with a lid and cook neer dosa till done, dont brown it or flip it
  13. Make a triangular fold on tawa itself
  14. Make neer dosas this way and place them separately without touching each other in a plate (cos dosas stick each other when they are hot)
  15. Serve warm neer dosa with chutney,veg saagu or any non veg gravy
