Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup moong dal washed
  2. 1 cup rice washed
  3. 2 green chillies finely chopped
  4. 1 large onion finely chopped
  5. 2 large tomatoes finely chopped
  6. 3-4 spoons of ground cumin and pepper powder
  7. 4-5 spoons ghee
  8. Pinch of curry leaves
  9. 5-6 cashews chopped
  10. 2 spoons oil
  11. 2 spoons coriander powder
  12. Saltvto taste
  13. 1 spoon chilli powder
  14. 1 sprig coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. To make the pongal take a pressure cooker and add the washed moong dal and rice and cook for 3-4 whistles
  2. Once cooked mash well with potato masher and add salt
  3. Heat ghee in a pan and roast the cashews, keep this aside
  4. In same ghee add the pepper and cumin powder and chopped curry leaves
  5. Add this to pongal and pongal is ready
  6. For the Gothsu take a pan and heat some oil add the chopped onions and tomatoes
  7. Add the coriander powder, salt and chilli powder and cook for 5-10 minutes
  8. Add water and let this boil for 10 minutes
  9. Top with some fresh coriander leaves
  10. Yummy pongal and Gothsu are ready
