Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Tapioca idly :
  2. Tapioca root grated/ cubed 2 cups
  3. Idly rice 1.5 cups
  4. Raw rice 1/2 cup
  5. Urad dal 3/4 cup
  6. Salt to taste
  7. For coriander chutney
  8. Coriander leaves 1/2 cup
  9. Grated Coconut 1/4 cup
  10. Green chilli 2
  11. Roasted gram 2 teaspoon
  12. Tamarind paste 1/2 teaspoon
  13. Salt to taste
  14. Oil 1 teaspoon
  15. For tempering
  16. Oil 1/2 teaspoon
  17. Mustard seed 1/2 teaspoon
  18. Urad Dal 1/2 teaspoon
  19. Curry leaves few


  1. Wash and soak rice in water and dal for about four hours
  2. Peel the skin of tapioca and cut into pieces .Add the cubed tapioca root to mixie and blend into smooth paste.
  3. Drain the water and grind the rice and dal with little soaked water into thick batter
  4. Add the tapioca paste to the batter and mix well along with salt.
  5. Allow it overnight or about six hours to ferment
  6. Pour the batter in idli mould and steam for about ten minutes
  7. For coriander chutney add oil to kadai and saute green chilli and coriander leaves for a minute
  8. Grind it along with salt,coconut, roasted gram and tamarind into smooth paste
  9. When oil is hot add mustard seeds ,ural dal and curry leaves .Add it to chutney.
  10. Tapioca idli and coriander chutney ready to serve
