ABOUT Methi Na Muthia RECIPE

A traditional Gujarati dish and served as a snack at teatime.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 cups mixed flour(1cup rice, 1/2cup toovardal, 1/4cup gramdal, 1/4cup uraddal)
  2. 1 cup chopped & washed methi/Fenugreek leaves
  3. 1/2 cup chopped palak leaves
  4. 2 tbsp coarse whole wheat flour
  5. 1/4 cup curds
  6. 2 tbsp sugar/gud dissolve in water
  7. 2 tbsp ginger garlic green chilli paste
  8. 1/4 tep soda bi carb
  9. 1 TSP red chilli powder
  10. 1/4 TSP haldi powder
  11. Salt to taste
  12. For tempering:- 3 tbsp oil
  13. 1 TSP mustard seeds
  14. 1 TSP sesame seeds
  15. 1/4 TSP hing
  16. For garnishing:- coriander leaves
  17. For serving tea

Instructions

  1. Firstly mix dal and rice and grind dry coarsely in mixture grinder.
  2. Take 2 cup of grind flour and mix with all other ingredients and mix well.
  3. Add little water and knead into a soft dough.
  4. Shape into oblong/cylindrical roll.
  5. Arrange the rolls on a greased thali and steam in a steamer for 15-20 minutes till cooked.
  6. Remove cool slightly and cut into thick slice.
  7. For tempering:- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds when pop add hing and seasame seeds and saute for few seconds.
  8. Add sliced muthias toss gently on a slow flame for 2-3 minutes till they are lightly browned.
  9. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with hot tea .
