ABOUT Methi Na Gota RECIPE

This is traditional famous Gujarati snack methi Na gota/pakoras/fritters.This an authentic recipe is coming from the village of dakore in Gujarat.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup besan
  2. 2 tbsp corase whole wheat flour
  3. 1 cup chopped methi leaves washed
  4. 1 ripe banana (optional)
  5. 1/4 tsp haldi powder
  6. 3 green chillies chopped
  7. 1 tbsp ginger green chilli paste
  8. 1 tbsp sugar
  9. Salt to taste
  10. 1tsp coriander seeds
  11. 8-10 black peppercorns
  12. 1/4 tsp soda bi carb
  13. 1 TSP lemon juice
  14. 1/2 cup curd
  15. 1 tbsp coriander leaves
  16. Oil for frying
  17. For serve green chutney, onion slice, curd and green chillies

Instructions

  1. Lightly crush the black pepper and coriander seeds. Set aside.
  2. Combine all the ingredients in a big bowl along with little water and mix well to make a batter of dropping consistency.
  3. Heat oil in a deep non stick pan. Add a soda bi carb in batter and immediately add a spoon of water over it and then mix well.
  4. Put spoonfuls of batter in oil and deep fry gota on a medium flame till they turn golden brown in colour from all the sides.
  5. Drain on absorbent paper and serve hot with green chilli, onion slice, and green chutney and curd.
