Methi Na gota/pakoras/fritters is an authentic recipe of Gujarat. This receipt is coming from the village of Dakore in Gujarat.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 11/2 cup besan/gram flour
  2. 1 cup methi leaves chopped and washed
  3. 2 tbsp coarse whole wheat flour
  4. 1 ripe banana mashed (optional)
  5. 1/2 cup curd
  6. 3 green chillies finely chopped
  7. 1/4 TSP haldi powder
  8. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  9. Salt as per taste
  10. 1/4 tsp soda bi carb
  11. 1 tbsp sugar
  12. 1 tbsp ginger garlic green chilli paste
  13. 1 tsp coriander seeds
  14. 8 black peppercorns
  15. Oil for deep frying
  16. For serving green chutney, onion slice, green chillies, curd


  1. Lightly crush the black pepper and coriander seeds and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl combine all the ingredients along with little water.
  3. And mix well to make a batter of dropping consistency and keep aside.
  4. Add a pinch of soda bi carb to the batter and immediately add a spoon of water over it and mix well.
  5. Heat oil in a deep non stick pan and put spoonfuls of batter in oil.
  6. And deep fry a on a medium flame till they turn golden brown in colour from all the sides.
  7. Drain on absorbent paper and serve hot with green chillies, onion, curds and green chutney.
