Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 8 arvi leaves (colacacial)
  2. 1 cup besan/gram flour
  3. 2 tbsp rice flour
  4. 1/2 tsp haldi powder
  5. 2vtsp dhaniya jeera powder
  6. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  7. 1 tbsp ginger garlic green chilli paste
  8. 1 tsp tamarind paste
  9. 11/2 tsp jaggery/sugar
  10. Salt to taste
  11. 1/4 cup grated coconut
  12. For tadka:- 4 tbsp oil
  13. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  14. 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  15. 1 tsp garlic lonely chopped
  16. 1/4 tsp hing


  1. Gently removes stems from leaves and washed.
  2. Pat dry with a kitchen towel and set aise.
  3. In a big bowl mix all ingredients and make a thick batter.
  4. Apply a portion of the batter on the reader side of one leaf.
  5. Put another leaf over it, right side down.
  6. Apply one more portion of the batter. Continue laying the leaf and paste till 3 leaves.
  7. Roll up tightly and fold the ends from both sides .
  8. Now start rolling them from one end to other end applying the batter inner side also.
  9. Similarly make another roll and tie securely.
  10. Steamed the rolls for 15 minutes till they fully cooked.
  11. Let them cool down and cut them into slices.
  12. For tadka:- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds when they pop add sesame seeds and garlic and saute.
  13. Pour tadka over the patel and mix well.
  14. Garnish with coconut and coriander leaves.
  15. Serve patra with a chutney and hot tea.
