About Set dosa Recipe

Set dosa is a popular breakfast recipe of Karnataka.

Ingredients to make Set dosa

  • 1 cup dosa rice
  • 1/2 cup poha(flaked rice)
  • 1/4th cup urad dal (skinned black garam)
  • 1/2tsp fenugreek seeds (methi dana)
  • salt to taste
  • oil as needed

How to make Set dosa

  1. Soak urad dal, rice and poha seprately
  2. Combine rice and methi seeds and soak it with enough water for atleast 4 hrs, drain the rice along with fenugreek seeds and blend in a mixer, make sure to make a smooth paste with required water only
  3. Drain and add poha to same blender to make a smooth paste
  4. Grind along with rice batter.do not add any extra water, grind to a smooth thick paste.
  5. Transfer the mixture into a deep bowl and keep aside
  6. Drain the urad dal and blend in a mixer (note that urad dal has to be blended seprately)
  7. Blend to a smooth paste using 3-4tbsp of water
  8. Transfer the mixture into the same bowl mix the batter well
  9. Cover and ferment in a warm place for atleast 12 hrs or overnight
  10. When the batter is fermented add salt and mix well
  11. Now for preparing dosa, heat a tawa, mix the batter gently
  12. Pour the ladle full of batter and dab it gently to spread the batter, do not spread like a normal dosa, add oil across the edges
  13. Cover and cook for a while until it is cooked inside. U can flip and cook it for a min on the inner side as well
  14. To get a crispy dosa lower the flame and cook for a while
  15. Now remove on a serving plate and serve hot with chutney & chutney pd
  16. Set of 3 dosas are are served atonce, so its called set dosa
