  2. 3/4th Cup Toor Daal
  3. 3/4th Cup Chana Daal
  4. 3 medium Size Beetroot
  5. 1 inch ginger
  6. 8-10 cloves of garlic
  7. 3 Onion
  8. 3 medium tomatoes
  9. 4-5 tablespoon Fresh Coriander
  10. 1/4th spoon Hing
  11. 2 Tablespoon Sahi Jeera
  12. 2 green chilies
  13. 1 tablespoon Kashmiri Red Chilie powder
  14. 1/4th Spoon Turmeric
  15. Salt to taste
  16. 1 to 2 spoon Fresh Cream for garnish ( Optional )
  17. 1 Dried Red Chilie
  18. 2 Tez patta or bay Leaf
  19. 4-5 Spoon Ghee
  20. 1 Tea Spoon Garam Masala
  21. Just a bit of Kasuri Methi

Instructions

  1. First soak all the daal for 1 hour atleast
  2. Then pressure cook the daal, beetroot along with haldi and salt for minimum 7-8 whistles
  3. Once done allow the pressure to release and make sure you mash the daal and beetroot well. You can use the hand blender as well coz I really like the daal and beetroot to get completely mixed and gives an amazing red color to the daal
  4. Now lets chop 1 onion and few garlic cloves and keep it aside and would be used later
  5. Now in a deep bottom pan or kadhai take the ghee and allow it come to smoking point
  6. Then add the Sahee Jeera and allow it to crackle and also add the Dry Red Chilie
  7. At this point add the bay leaf, Kashmiri Red Chilie Powder, Chilies, garlic and saute for 30 seconds
  8. Add the finely chopped onion and saute the same for few mins
  9. Add the finally chopped tomatoes and saute for few mins
  10. Add salt to taste
  11. Add the garam masala, kasuri methi and saute for 1 min
  12. Once the masala is really cooked well and releases the Ghee then add the blended daal and allow it to come to boil
  13. Now in a separate pan we will prepare for a tadka
  14. Add ghee, Sahee jeera, fried onions, garlic, hing and kashmiri red chilie and saute for 30 seconds on High heat
  15. now add the tadka in the daal and cover for sometime. This will allow all the flavors to increase. Add fresh coriander and mix
  16. Now garnish with fried Onions, garlic Fresh Cream and Fresh Coriander and serve hot with Rice, Chapati or naan.
