This is a very tasty and easy recipe that I learnt from my mom.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Amla - about 22
  2. Garlic - about 15 cloves cut into thin slices
  3. Red chilly powder- 1 tbspn (I used half kashmiri and the half spicy )
  4. Turmeric powder- 1/2 tspn
  5. Hing- 1/4 tspn
  6. Roasted Methi seeds powder- 1/4 tspn
  7. Curry leaves - few
  8. Mustard Seeds- 1 tspn
  9. Gingelly oil- 2 tbspn
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Water - as per need


  1. Wash the amla well.....Take some water in a kadhai and keep it to boil...Then put the amla in it and let it boil for 5 minutes...Then turn off the gas...And let it cool.
  2. Now remove them on a plate... And cut into thin slices
  3. Now heat a kadhai and put oil....
  4. When hot add mustard seeds and hing...
  5. Then add the curry leaves
  6. Now in a small bowl take about 2 tbspn water and put the red chilly powder in it and make a paste....Now add that paste in the oil ... Put turmeric powder....Fry for about two minutes on low flame ....Or else it will burn.
  7. Now add the garlic slices...Fry for a few minutes....
  8. Now add the sliced amla pieces....
  9. Add salt and roasted methi seeds powder and mix well....
  10. Turn off the gas and let it cool...Now store in a bottle and refrigerate it.
  11. Your Amla pickle is ready .
