ABOUT Aloo Tikki Chaat RECIPE

Aloo tikki chaat is very delicious and full of flavours, hence it is the favourite street food of many Indians.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 4 medium sized potatoes
  2. 1 teaspoon fennel powder (saunf)
  3. 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala powder
  4. 1 teaspoon dry mango powder
  5. 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  6. 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  7. 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  8. 1/2 teaspoon dry ginger powder
  9. 1 and 1/2 tablespoon corn flour
  10. 30 ml Oil
  11. Salt according to taste
  12. Garnishing Ingredients:
  13. 1/4 cup coriander leaves finely chopped
  14. 1/4 cup carrot finely grated
  15. 1/2 cup finely chopped onions (optional)
  16. 1/2 cup yoghurt
  17. 1/2 cup tamarind chutney
  18. Pinch of red chilli powder (optional)
  19. Pinch of chaat masala
  20. Handful of Sev to sprinkle on top


  1. Wash and boil the potatoes till they are cooked through.
  2. Once they are cooked, peel the potatoes while they are warm and mash into a large bowl.
  3. Add in all the spices, along with the salt and cornflour. Stir this mixture well together.
  4. Shape medium sized patties of the potato mixture. Keep aside.
  5. Take a pan and heat the oil in it, pan fry these potato patties in batches till they are crisp and brown in colour.
  6. Place 2 potato patties on a plate with a topping of tamarind chutney, yogurt, carrot, onions, sev, coriander, chaat masala and red chilli powder.
  7. Serve aloo tikki chaat piping hot.
