One of the popular street food of kolkata is fishroll. There are various types of recipe with fish but it's more time taking and complicated recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For stuffing:5 large pieces of rohu fish
  2. Onion finely chopped-3
  3. Ginger-garlic paste-2tbspn
  4. Green chilli-5
  5. Tomato (cubes)-3
  6. Boiled potato-3pc
  7. Turmeric powder-2tspn
  8. Redchilli powder-2tspn
  9. Cumin powder-11/2tspn
  10. Coriander powder-11/2tspn
  11. Garam masala-1tspn
  12. sugar-as needed
  13. Salt -as needed
  14. Mustard oil-4tbspn
  15. For wrapper: Maida-3cup
  16. Curd-1tbspn
  17. Baking powder-1tspn
  18. Salt-1/2tbspn
  19. Lukewarm water-as needed
  20. For chutney: pudina ( mint leaves)
  21. Tamarind paste-2tbspn
  22. Salt -as needed
  23. sugar-as needed
  24. Green chilly-3


  1. For stuffing: Wash the pieces,mix salt and turmeric in it . Marinate for 15minutes.
  2. Take a pan and heat mustard oil. Shallow fry the pieces.
  3. When the pieces become cool ,mas it with boiled potato and keep aside.
  4. Heat oil and add onion, tomato,green chilly. Cook it for few minutes.when it's become half boil add ginger-garlic paste salt and all spices .mix it properly with fried onions and cook untill the masala leave oil.
  5. Now add mashed fish potato mixture with the masala . Cook them properly as the masala evenly mixed with mashed fish. After 10minutes when it's done keep the stuffing for cool.
  6. Wrapper: Take a large bowl, pour maida, baking powder,curd,salt, oil and incorporate all these by using finger now add water and make a dough.cover it with wet cloth for 30minutes.
  7. After that make small balls from dough. Roll out it and give rectangle shape.
  8. Make rolls: Take 2tbspn of stuffing and fill the rectangles. Then tightly roll them and secure the tips of roll by press it with fingertips that stuffing should not come put.
  9. Take a pan and heat refined oil. Dip fry the rolls untill it become golden brown.
  10. Chutney: Grind all the ingredients and make a smooth pudina paste.
  11. Serve the fishroll with pudina chutney or sauce.
