  3. 1/2 cup vanilla custard powder

  5. 1 teaspoon baking powder
  6. 1 cup sugar
  7. 1 cup butter (room temperature)
  8. 5 tablespoon milk + 1 tablespoon vinegar
  9. 1/2 cup soda water
  10. 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  11. For icing- 1 cup plain cream cheese
  12. 1 cup fresh cream
  13. 1/2 cup icing sugar
  14. 1 teaspoon strawberry essence
  15. For garnishing- 1/2 cup fresh strawberries (finely chopped) and chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for ten minutes. Mix the milk and vinegar and beat for 10 seconds. Keep aside.
  2. Sift the flour, vanilla custard powder, baking soda and baking powder in a large mixing bowl. Sift twice. Keep Aside
  3. In another bowl beat sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add vanilla essence and add this to sifted flour.
  4. Also add milk - vinegar mixture and water. Fold until everything comes together. Now divide the batter in two parts.
  5. In one part sift the cocoa powder and fold gently. Add more water if needed.
  6. Grease a round silicone cake mould and pour the brown batter in first. Now in the middle of it pour the white batter.
  7. Tap the mold on counter top to get rid of any air bubbles. Swirl the batter around with a toothpick 3-4 times to form a pattern.
  8. Bake at 150 degrees Celsius for 20 minutes or until a skewer inserted comes out clean. Cool completely before icing.
  9. To make icing- whip cream and sugar together until soft peaks are formed.
  10. Now gently fold in the cream cheese and strawberry essence. Transfer it into a piping bag and chill before piping.
  11. Decorate the cake as desired and garnish with chocolate chips and fresh strawberries.
