ABOUT Ulli chammathi. ( onion chutney.) RECIPE

A traditional Kerala side dish for idli dosa etc. A very simple chutney . Usually taken with coconut oil. If anyone does nt like the taste of coconut oil, just add any other oil.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Small onion 15
  2. Red chillies 10
  3. salt.
  4. Kashmiri chilli powder 1/2 tsp, just to add colour.
  5. Coconut oil. 2 or 3 tsp.


  1. Remove skin from onions .
  2. Grind it with given amount of chillies & salt Don't make it a very good paste.
  3. Add coconut oil & mix. Take with idly , dosa & all.
