Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Sesame oil 1/4 cup
  2. Mustard 1 tsp
  3. Urad dal 1tsp
  4. Asafetida 1/4 tsp
  5. Red chilli 2
  6. Fenugreek seed 4 nos
  7. Curry leaves 1 arc
  8. Orange peel(kamala orange only) 1 cup cut into small pieces
  9. Onions 2 finely chopped
  10. Ginger 1 inch finely chopped
  11. Green chilli 1 finely chopped
  12. Sambar powder 2tsp
  13. Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  14. Tamarind extract from amla sized tamarind
  15. Jaggery lemon sized
  16. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a pan heat sesame oil..do tempering with above ingredients from mustard to curry leaves ..
  2. After tempering in a medium flame add onions, saute well and then ginger and g.chillies.saute..
  3. When onions are cooked add orange peel and saute well..the peel should be cooked in the oil till it become soft and cooked..so that it won't taste bitter..
  4. Now add sambar powder, red chilli powder and mix it saute well..
  5. Add tamarind extract and salt..allow to boil for five minutes..
  6. Lastly add jaggery and stir continuously till the oil oozes out and the pachadi thickens..
