Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Wheat flour-2 cups
  2. Ghee- 4 tbsp
  3. Tuvar dal-1/2 cup
  4. Urad dal-1/2 cup
  5. Chana dal-1/4 cup
  6. Masoor dal- 1/4 cup
  7. Moong dal- 1/4 cup
  8. Onions- 2 chopped
  9. Tomatoes- 2 chopped
  10. Ginger- a small piece
  11. Fennel seeds- 2 tsp
  12. Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  13. Red chilli powder- 1/2 tsp
  14. Garam masala- 1/4 tsp
  15. Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
  16. Salt to taste
  17. Oil to fry

Instructions

  1. Add fennel and 1 tbsp ghee to the flour and knead it, make small balls, next take water in deep pan, when water boils add the balls to it, cook the batis for 15-20 minutes.
  2. When batis are cooked, strain from water and keep aside, when cool cu into halves and deep fry.
  3. Soak all the dals in water for 1 hour.Pressure cook for 10 minutes.
  4. Heat ghee in a pan add cumin seeds, add onion and ginger add all he dry masalas, fry for 5 minutes. Next add tomatoes and fry till sides leave oil.
  5. Add this tadka to the dal. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  6. Dip the bati into hot ghee and serve with the dal.

Its not baati, its baafla from MP.... Baatis are never boiled, its roasted in either fire or oven......there is a huge difference in taste in baati & baafla.....
