ABOUT Gatte ki Sabzi RECIPE

Gatte (made of besan) in a spicy curry.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For gatte:
  2. 2 cups besan (gram flour)
  3. 1 tsp Salt
  4. 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  5. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  6. 1/2 tsp ajwain
  7. 1 tbsp oil
  8. 1 cup hot water
  9. FOR CURRY
  10. 1 Onion
  11. 1 tomato
  12. 1 green chilli
  13. 2-3 cloves of garlic
  14. 1 piece of ginger
  15. Pinch of hing
  16. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  17. 1 Dry red chilli
  18. 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  19. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  20. 1 tsp Coriander powder
  21. Salt to taste
  22. Garam Masala

Instructions

  1. FOR GATTE:
  2. take besan, add salt, red chilli powder, ajawain, turmeric powder and mix add oil (for moyam) then knead into dough with hot water. Dough should be tight.
  3. Then make cylindrical rolls and cut into small pieces.
  4. Put these pieces into boiling water (around 3 cups of water).
  5. Boil it till the gattes become whitish and float on the top of the water.
  6. FOR CURRY
  7. Grind onion, garlic, ginger and green chilli.
  8. Make puree of tomato.
  9. Take a wok, add oil.
  10. Add cumin seeds and hing.
  11. As it starts crackling, add ground paste.
  12. Saute and cook it for 1-2 minutes.
  13. Add pureed tomato and mix.
  14. Cook it for 1-2 minutes.
  15. Then add dry masalas and saute.
  16. Mix gatte and little boiled water (used for boiling gatte) mix it.
  17. Cook for 1-2 minutes, then add remaining boiled water and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  18. Sprinkle garam masala and serve.
