About Tuver -gajar pulao (pigeon peas & carrot pulao) Recipe

This is made in winter when pigeon peas and carrot are available & it’s one pot meal and tasty too.

Tuver -gajar pulao (pigeon peas & carrot pulao)

Ingredients to make Tuver -gajar pulao (pigeon peas & carrot pulao)

  • 150 GM pigeon peas
  • 4 medium carrots
  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp ginger , garlic and chilly paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • salt
  • 1/4 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilly powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 2 and half cups water
  • 4 tbsp coriander leaves for garnishing .

How to make Tuver -gajar pulao (pigeon peas & carrot pulao)

  1. Take a broad cooker , add oil to it .
  2. when oil is hot add , cumin seeds to it.
  3. when it crackles add ginger garlic and chilly paste n sauté 2/3 minutes.
  4. Now add medium cut carrots to it along with pigeon peas.
  5. Add water to it .
  6. Add salt , turmeric , red chilly powder and mix it well .
  7. Add basmati rice to it ( rice has to be soaked for half n hour prior)Add half cup water more to it
  8. closed the lid of cooker and bring it upto 3 whistles make sure heat is medium only.
  9. cool it for 7/8 minutes.
  10. Add garam masala and give stir , make sure while stirring rice don’t break and sprinkle coriander leaves for garnishing . Garam masala is added last as it gives flavour .you can add veggies of your choice to this pulao.
