Ingredients to make Butter Caramelised Banana

  • peeled banana 2 medium sized
  • salted butter 50 gm (about 10 gm will be retained into the caramelised banana)

How to make Butter Caramelised Banana

  1. Mash the banana completely.
  2. Add the butter and mashed banana in a thick base pan and start heating gently while you whisk.
  3. Keep whisking the mix on medium flame till the banana gets completely caramelised and the butter starts separating from the mix. The mixture will start looking like a jam now.
  4. Drain the separated butter and fill the caramelised banana in a sterile glass jar. it keeps well for 2 days at room temperature and for a week if refrigerated.
  5. It tastes great if served warm, at room temperature and even when paired with chilled or frozen desserts.
  6. Use this caramelised banana as a topping or filling to your unsweetened crepes, pancakes and ice creams etc. It makes a great 'caramel' dip for pretzels or grissini served as appetisers.
  7. Spoon this caramelised banana in empty tart shells and top with praline or ice cream to make a delicious dessert.

My Tip:

Add a tbsp of rum and let the caramelised banana flambe in the pan if you want an adult version. We love the rum version a lot.
