ABOUT Tiranga Malai Cake RECIPE

Tricolour malai cake made inspired by Independence day. It's tricky colours spreading peace, happiness, prosperity, bravery amongst the whole nation.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. All purpose flour 2 cups
  2. Sugar 3/4 cup
  3. Vanilla essence 1 tsp
  4. Milk 1 cup
  5. Butter 1/4 cup
  6. Baking powder 1/2 tsp
  7. Baking soda 1/4 tsp
  8. Food colour red and green 4 drops
  9. Oil for greasing the cake tin 1 tsp
  10. Malai 1 1/2 cup fresh
  11. Icing sugar 2 tsp
  12. Sugar 1 tsp + water 1/2 cup for syrup

Instructions

  1. Sieve the flour, baking powder, baking soda and keep aside.
  2. Blend the butter and sugar.
  3. Add flour little by little in the wet ingredients. Mix well.
  4. Add milk and blend again. Add vanilla essence and divide in three equal parts.
  5. Add green colour in one part, red in another and mix well.
  6. Grease three cake tins. Bake at 180 degree centigrade till a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Make sugar syrup and sprinkle on all the three cake layers.
  8. Mix the malai with icing sugar and spread between all the layers of the cake.
  9. Chill in the fridge for 1 hour.
