ABOUT Moong Dal Pakoras RECIPE

Mildly spiced fritters made from Moong Dal is one of the popular tasty street food from Mumbai

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup yellow moong dal
  2. 1-2 green Chilies
  3. 1/2 inch ginger
  4. 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
  5. 1 teaspoon black pepper
  6. 1 pinch hing
  7. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Clean and soak dal for 4-5 hours or overnight
  2. Coarsely crush peppercorns and coriander seeds and keep it aside
  3. Grind Dal with very little water and salt to form smooth paste.
  4. Add green chillies, ginger and hing and grind again to smooth paste
  5. Transfer batter to bowl. Add coarsely ground spices to batter and mix batter well
  6. Drop spoonful of batter in hot oil and deep fry over medium heat until crisp and golden
  7. Drain excess oil over tissue paper
  8. Serve hot with sauce and green or tamarind chutney
