Though I am Bengali but I and my whole family like this one pot meal , Chicken Kizhi biryani . The unique flavour of banana leaf and pineapple enhance the the taste and make it different from other biryani.

Ingredients Serving: 4
1 and 1/2 cup basmati rice
600 grams chicken
1 onion slices
4 garlic pods
1 small bowl of mint leaves
1 tea spoon Turmeric powder
1 tea spoon kashmiri red chilly powder
1 Tea Spoon Garam Masala
3 table spoon clarified butter
1 tomato
2 table spoon curd
10 cashew nuts( fried)
10 raisins fried
2 slices of pineapple
1 onion beresta
2 banana leaves
Aluminium foil
2 table spoon oil
1 pinch of saffron soaked in 1/2 cup milk
1 inch stick of cinnamon
5 to 6 clove
1/2 of a nutmeg
Instructions
Wash and soak rice in water for 20 minutes and discard the water and keep the rice in a sieve
Keep ready all the ingredients ( tomatoes and the curd are not in the picture )
Make powder of cinnamon , nutmeg and cloves keep aside
Marrinate the chicken pieces with salt ginger garlic paste , Salt , 1/2 tea spoon of turmeric and kashmiri red chilly powder
Put oil in a fry pan and fry the chicken pieces and remove from the oil and keep aside
In a large pan heat enough water to boil the rice and put cardamom , cinnamon , black pepper
after some time discard the whole garam masala and put 1 table spoon of ghee and add the soaked rice and cook it till it's 90% done
Discard the water and let it cool for time
Heat another pan and put rest of the ghee and oil , saute the sliced onions and garlic
Add the rest dry ingredients and mix well
Add tomatoes and the fried chicken cook for some time
Add the curd and add the cinnamon , nutmeg and cloves powder and saute
Add little water and cover it to make the chicken pieces tender
Dry almost all the gravy and keep aside
Now on the slow flame put the banana leaves to make it soft ( it will help to fold the leaves without tearing it )
Take a large bowl put the aluminium foil into the it and make the shape
Now put the banana leaf and put cooked rice and chicken
Put second layer of rice and put beresta fried cashew nuts and raising , saffron milk and pineapple slices and few mint leaves
Make a potli
Now in a dip bottom pan heat 1 cup water and carefully put the polti into it
Cover with a lid and cook for ten minutes
Now serve the lip smacking Kizhi biryani with onion rings and raita of your choice
