This is a very popular recipe in India, liked by almost everyone. You may have to go to a nearby Asian Indian store to get the 'Pav Bhaji Masala' that is the special spice to bring the flavor (Masala means spice). Pav is actually the buns. Bhaji is the vegetables cooked with spice.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 onions, finely chopped
  2. 3 Small Potatoes, boiled and mashed
  3. 1 cup boiled vegetables (cauliflower, carrots, green peas)
  4. 1/2 Capsicum, finely chopped
  5. 4 Tomatoes, chopped
  6. 1 tbs red chilli powder
  7. 1 lemon
  8. coriander leaves
  9. salt to taste
  10. 2 tbs of butter
  11. 1 tbs Grated Cheese
  12. 1-2 tbs of Pav Bhaji masala
  13. Ladi pav


  1. Heat some butter on a flat pan. Add chopped onions, garlic paste. Cook till the onions are brown.
  2. Add capsicum and let it cook for 2 minutes. Add chopped tomatoes.
  3. Add pav bhaji masala, kashmiri red chilli powder and salt. Cook the tomatoes well for 10-15 mins. Use a masher to mash the mixture.
  4. Add the boiled vegetables once the tomatoes are nicely cooked. Mash them well.
  5. Add a little water if you find the mixture thick. Mix it well again. Add coriander leaves to the mixture.
  6. Slit the breads, apply butter and warm them on the same pan.
  7. Serve hot Pav Bhaji with butter on top, lemon wedges and Bread. Garnish with coriander leaves and chopped onion.
