ABOUT Carrot Tomato Rice RECIPE

Carrots and tomato are a great combination. When you have surprise guests at home this rice dish is the best you can serve. Easy quick and literally made using two or three ingredients.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 cup Basmati Rice
  2. 1/2 cup Carrots, chopped
  3. 1/2 cup tomatoes, chopped
  4. 2 Tbsp Ghee/Oil
  5. 1 Tbsp cumin
  6. 1 Tsp Kashmiri Red Chili powder
  7. 1 Tsp Pav Bhaji masala
  8. 2 tsp Salt
  9. 1 tsp Ginger-Garlic paste
  10. 1 tsp Garam Masala
  11. 1 Tsp Coriander Powder


  1. Wash the rice and parboil it. Rinse the cooked rice and keep it aside.
  2. In a pan heat oil or ghee, add cumin allow it to crackle. Then add carrots, tomato, ginger garlic paste and saute it for 2 minutes. Add very little water almost about 2 tbsp.
  3. Add red chilli powder, garam masala, coriander powder and mix everything well.
  4. Add Pav bhaji masala and salt. Mix everything well and add little more water so that the masala's doesn't get burnt.
  5. Now add parboiled rice. And give it a nice mix. Cover it with lid and allow it to steam for 10 minutes. So that the rice gets cooked properly.
  6. After 10 minutes, rice is ready to serve. Drizzle some ghee and serve it with Potato Curry or Chicken curry. I feel it's the most comfortable and satisfying food for me.
