Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For the chocolate sponge cake :
  2. Sugar - 120 gm
  3. Eggs -3
  4. Flour - 100 gm
  5. Baking powder - 1 tsp
  6. Vanilla essence - 1 tsp
  7. Cocoa powder - 2 tbsp
  8. For assembly :
  9. whipped cream - 1 cup
  10. Icing sugar - 1/2 cup
  11. Chocolate shavings
  12. Orange juice

Instructions

  1. To make the sponge cake, whisk the sugar and eggs together till it increases thrice in its volume.
  2. Sift the flour, baking powder and cocoa powder together.
  3. Fold this mixture into the egg mixture.
  4. Add the vanilla essence, pour this onto a greased and lined baking tray.
  5. Bake it for 10 minutes in a preheated oven at 180 degree Celsius. Cool it.
  6. Whisk the cream and the icing sugar together and put it into a piping bag.
  7. Cut small rounds of the sponge cake, put one layer of it into the jar. Put a teaspoon of orange juice to keep it moist.
  8. Pipe the whipped cream onto the sponge in the jar.
  9. Repeat the layer and sprinkle the chocolate shavings and add a cherry on top.
