Chana dal and panner is cooked together . It's a awesome combination , goes very well with roti , puri or paratha . It's a comfort food of my family .

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 1 cup chana dal
  2. 200 grams paneer
  3. 10 / 12 cashew nuts
  4. 10/ 12 raisins
  5. 1 bay leaf
  6. 1 tea spoon ginger paste
  7. 1/2 tea spoon whole cumin
  8. 1/2 tea spoon cumin powder
  9. 1/2 tea spoon coriander powder
  10. 1/2 tea spoon kashmiri red chilly powder
  11. 1/2 tea spoon turmeric powder
  12. 1/2 tea spoon asafoetida
  13. 1 tea spoon ghee
  14. 1 dry red chilly
  15. 1 tea spoon garam masala

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak the dal for 1 hour
  2. Soak the dry fruits in water and discard the water and keep aside
  3. Cut the paneer in cubes , shallow fry and keep it in salt water
  4. Boil the dal 80% and remove the dal from the water keep it separately
  5. put ghee in the kadai , put bay leaf and the whole dry red chilly
  6. Add whole cumin , when it will start crackling add asafoetida and the ginger paste
  7. Add all the dry ingredients except garam masala and add salt
  8. When you will get the aroma of the sauted masala and the dal and paneer
  9. Add the required water ( use the water in which dal is boiled )
  10. Let it cook for some time or till the dal is boiled
  11. Add sugar and garam masala
  12. Let the water dry completely
