ABOUT Leek Masal Vada/Leek Channadal Fritters RECIPE

As much as every mom, even i had to struggle to feed my kids earlier with vegetables, hence i adapted few techiniques to feed them easily the vegetables even without their knowledge. Deepfried snacks works awesome with kids, obviously i will definitely add some vegetables. Hence i dished out this leeks loaded masala vada, leeks replace very well the onions in this vadas and trust me the flavour of the leeks makes this vadas more flavourful and delicious.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1+1/2cups Channadal
  2. 1/2cup Leek (chopped finely)
  3. 3nos Dry red chillies
  4. 1tsp Ginger (chopped)
  5. Few Curry leaves
  6. 2nos Garlic cloves
  7. 1/2tsp Fennel seeds
  8. Coriander leaves (as per need)
  9. Salt
  10. Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Soak the channadal for atleast 3 hours.
  2. Grind the soaked channadal, dry red chillies,garlic cloves,fennel seeds as coarse paste without water, if its too hard to grind,just sprinkle some water.
  3. Add the chopped leeks, chopped green chillies, chopped coriander leaves,chopped ginger pieces, curryleaves and salt, mix everything well.
  4. Meanwhile heat the oil for deep frying, take a small ball from the grounded mixture, flat them in your palms and gently drop them in hot oil.
  5. Fry them until they get well cooked, strain the excess of oil with a paper towel..
  6. Serve hot with spicy coconut chutney.
