My mom always made this yummy dish called menthi koora pappu. It’s very famous in Andhra and has maharashtrian influences

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup toor dal washed
  2. 2 cups chopped menthi leaves
  3. 2 large tomatoes
  4. 3-4 green chillies
  5. Half spoon Kashmiri mirch
  6. Cumin seeds
  7. 2 spoons ghee
  8. 2 spoons oil
  9. 1 cup besan
  10. Salt to taste
  11. 1 spoon hing
  12. 2-3 dried red chillies
  13. 4 cups water

Instructions

  1. Chop tomatoes finely
  2. Wash menthi leaves well and make sure it’s triple washed
  3. Take a pressure cooker and add toor dal, tomatoes and menthi leaves
  4. Add sliced green chilli, Kashmiri mirch and Hing
  5. Add 4 cups water
  6. Pressure cook for 3 whistles
  7. Now take a pan add ghee and fry besan in ghee
  8. Add the besan to the cooked dhal
  9. The dal will thicken
  10. Take a pan and add oil add cumin, dried red chilli and mustard for tadka
  11. Serve with rice or roti and enjoy the yummy menthi koora pappu
