ABOUT Baked Alaska RECIPE

An ice cream cake covered with an igloo of meringue emerging from an oven is a real show stopper.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Round cake piece
  2. Vanilla ice cream 2 cups
  3. Egg whites 2
  4. Castor Sugar 3 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Put cling flim inside a oval shape glass bowl.
  2. Put the ice cream in and place the cake piece on top of it.
  3. Cover with the cling film. Keep it in the freezer for at least 6 hours.
  4. Beat the egg whites and sugar until peaks form.
  5. Take out the ice cream. Remove the cling film. Turn and cover the ice cream side with the meringue.
  6. Make swirl with a fork. Keep in the freezer for 1/2 an hour.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degree centigrade for 3 minutes.
  8. Or alternatively you can brown the meringue with a blow torch.
