An innovative scintillating recipe made by me with simple ingredient semolina will definitely make you grin happily. Kids will love it's amazing texture and taste. Addition of ghee gives it a sultry look and nothing can match it in flavour. Butter can do the work but the magic of our desi ghee cannot be beaten by anything. Isn't it folks? So get rolling and make this beautiful Barfee for all your loved ones and bring a smile on their faces. Lauz in urdu means diagonal shaped. And since I made this barfee diagonal shaped, I named it so. Happy Cooking People!

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. semolina or sooji 2 cups
  2. cardamom powder 1 tsp
  3. cashews 12
  4. almonds 12
  5. sugar 1 cup
  6. water 1 1/2 Cup
  7. ghee 1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. Add ghee to a pan or kadhai and roast semolina on a low heat until a nice aroma emanates in your kitchen.
  2. But before roasting semolina, fry Cashews and Almonds until light brown in ghee first.
  3. Remove them onto a plate and keep aside until use.
  4. Simultaneously prepare a one string consistency sugar syrup adding cardamom powder.
  5. Add this hot syrup to the semolina and mix well. Keep the heat always low.
  6. Also add fried Cashews and Almonds too.
  7. Mix well and when the mixture starts leaving the sides of the pan, switch off the gas.
  8. Take out the Sooji Halwa onto a deep plate and cut into diagonal shapes or any shape you prefer.
  9. Serve them hot or cold. It tastes yum both the ways.
  10. Enjoy!
