ABOUT Pasta Biryani RECIPE

Give a twist to the usual biryani by making a pasta biryani for your kid. This easy and quick one pot meal is yummy and can be made in a jiffy. This is a kid friendly dish and goes best with some raita and fryums. It is an ideal after school snack or a lunch box meal too.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup pasta, boiled al dente
  2. 2 tbsp. ghee
  3. 1-2 bay leaves
  4. 1" cinnamon stick
  5. 2 green cardamoms
  6. 1/2 tsp. cumin seeds
  7. 1 onion, sliced
  8. 1 tsp. ginger-garlic paste
  9. 1-2 green chilies, slit
  10. salt to taste
  11. 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
  12. 1-2 tsp. biryani masala
  13. 1 cup coloured bell peppers and capsicum, sliced
  14. 2 tbsp. chopped beans, blanched
  15. 2 tbsp. frozen green peas
  16. 2 tbsp. mixed dry fruits,chopped
  17. 1 egg, well beaten with a pinch of salt and pepper powder
  18. 1 tsp. oil
  19. 1 tbsp. mint & coriander leaves, chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tsp. oil in a pan and make an omelette with the beaten egg. When done, cut into small pieces and keep aside.
  2. Heat ghee & temper with cumin seeds, bay leaves, cinnamon & cardamoms. Saute for a few seconds.
  3. Add the onion and saute till transparent.
  4. Add ginger-garlic paste & turmeric powder. Stir fry for few more seconds.
  5. Add the veggies & biryani masala. Saute for 1-2 minutes or till it turns soft.
  6. Add the boiled paste, nuts, green chilies & salt. Mix everything well and stir fry for 2 minutes.
  7. Add the coriander-mint leaves and the omelette pieces. Give it a toss.
  8. Serve with raita and fryums / papad.
