Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. for the dough:
  2. 1 cup warm milk
  3. 1.5 teaspoon active dry yeast
  4. 450 grams all-purpose flour
  5. 1/4 cup sugar
  6. 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
  7. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  8. 75 grams butter at room temperature
  9. for filling:
  10. 100 grams butter at room temperature
  11. 1/4 cup white sugar
  12. 3 tablespoon brown sugar
  13. 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder
  14. for topping:(optional )
  15. some powdered sugar
  16. 1 beaten egg

Instructions

  1. for the dough:Combine warm milk with yeast.
  2. Mix and set aside until it foams up.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, salt, sugar and cardamom powder. Mix.
  4. Once yeast mixture is ready, add to the bowl of dry ingredients. Mix.
  5. Add butter. Mix well
  6. Knead the dough until it becomes smooth(takes 20 minutes if kneading with hands)
  7. Place the ball of dough into a clean bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel. Set aside for 15 to 20 minutes.
  8. for the filling:
  9. In a medium bowl, combine butter, sugar, brown sugar and cinnamon powder
  10. whisk well and set aside
  11. assembling the buns:
  12. Flatten the dough into a board by using a rolling pin(Make sure the dough is even in thinness. If the edges on the long side are too uneven, trim them with a sharp knife of dough cutter.)
  13. Spread the cinnamon filling evenly on the dough.
  14. Keep about ½ inch of the dough (on both long sides) without the cinnamon filling
  15. Roll the dough tightly into a log (roll from the long side). Trim the remaining uneven sides.
  16. Cut the log into smaller and equal portions – about 3 cm each portion.
  17. Place each bun into a baking tray with a baking sheet.
  18. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and set aside for 1 to 1 ½ hours (until the dough has become slightly puffy).
  19. When the buns are ready, preheat the oven to 200° celcius
  20. Brush the buns with the beaten egg. Sprinkle each bun with powdered sugar
  21. Place baking tray in the middle of the oven for 17 to 20 minutes.
  22. serve warm or at room temperature after cooling slightly
  23. enjoy!
