Ingredients Serving: 6
For the dough-
flour 2 and 1/2 cups
Warm milk 2/3 cup
Dry yeast 2 teaspoons
sugar 4 tablespoons
egg 1
Soyabean oil 1 teaspoon
Milk powder 1 teaspoon
butter 3 tablespoons
For filling-
Soft butter 3 tablespoons
cinnamon powder 3 teaspoons
Brown sugar 1/3 cup
For glaze-
powdered sugar 1/2 cup
Vanilla essence 1/2 teaspoon
milk 4 tablespoons
Instructions
In a bowl take the warm milk. To this add the yeast and the sugar. Give it a good mix and let it sit for 10 minutes.
To this mixture, add the flour, egg, oil, milk powder and mix it well.
Take this out on a clean platform and knead for at least 10-15 minutes. Push it outwards and pull it in. Kneading the dough this way helps form gluten which is the most important part of this recipe.
Then add soft butter and knead again until the butter is properly incorporated.
Grease a bowl and place the dough in it. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit in a warm spot for 2 hours or until it doubles in size.
Punch the dough to let the air out and roll it out to form a rectangular shape.
Spread soft butter on the entire rectangle.
In a bowl mix the cinnamon powder and brown sugar.
Spread the cinnamon mixture evenly all over the dough and start rolling it in from one side to make a log.
Cut and discard both ends of the log. Cut the log into 12 pieces.
Grease a baking tin and line it with baking paper. Place the cinnamon rolls in it, cover it with a damp towel and let it sit for an hour.
When it doubles in size bake this in a preheated oven on 180 °c for 35 minutes.
To make the glaze combine powdered sugar, milk and vanilla essence.
Drizzle the glaze all over the freshly baked cinnamon rolls and enjoy.
