Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Toor dal 1/2 cup
  2. Tomato 1
  3. ladies finger 2
  4. Drum stick-Optional-1
  5. Bottle gourd-4 medium cut pieces-Optional
  6. Onion- 1 medium size
  7. Tamarind paste-1 spoon
  8. Mirchi 2
  9. Jeera 1/2 spoon
  10. Mustard 1/2 spoons
  11. pepper corns-3
  12. Curry Leaves- 14
  13. Coriander- Small bunch
  14. Salt -1/2 teaspoon
  15. Red chili powder 1/2 teaspoon
  16. Carrot 1 medium size
  17. Jaggery optional as per your desired flavour
  18. Garlic Cloves-3

Instructions

  1. Pressure Cook toor dal and Please make sambar in the same cooker if your pressure cooker has more than or 1.5 litre capacity
  2. Mash the toor dal and add salt, red chilli powder and Haldi
  3. You can boil the tamarind and make a paste or you can directly add the tamarind paste. Add the tamarind paste and add 3 glasses of water.
  4. Please keep it on medium flame and add veggies...Carrot, tomato, Mirchi, Drumstick, Onion, Bottle gourd, curry leaves
  5. After 15 mins, you can see the change in consistency.
  6. Take a small mixer Jar or blender...Now add 1 teaspoon toor dal+One Garlic Clove+3 Pepper Corns+1/4 Spoon Jeera and make a paste
  7. Add this mixture to the boiling sambar and wait for 5-7 mins. now add chopped Coriander. You can add jaggery too(Optional-4 pinches of powdered Jaggery)
  8. For tempering, Please add 2 crushed garlic cloves followed by mustard Jeera and curry leaves. And then add it to Sambar.
