About Naadoo Recipe

Naadoo is a coconut and jaggery ladoo. This sweet is prepared during Pujas in West Bengal. In the hindi language, coconut is 'nariyal' and 'jaggery' is gud which means 'Nariyal ke gud wale ladoo', that's why it is called 'Nadoo' in short.

Ingredients to make Naadoo

  • 1 big sized coconut
  • 100 gm jaggery
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp pure ghee

How to make Naadoo

  1. Grate the coconut as finely as possible.
  2. Heat a thick pan and roast the grated coconut on a medium flame, but note that the coconut does not look too dry and brown in colour. Keep this coconut aside to cool.
  3. Make a jaggery syrup with 100 gm of jaggery and 1/4 cup of water. Cook till it forms a syrup consistency.
  4. Than add the roasted coconut and cook for 1 minute so that the ladoos are thick. Then let it cool for 30 seconds.
  5. Make the ladoos when the mixture is warm so that they stick well together.
  6. Serve it warm.

My Tip:

Finely grated coconut is a must. If you want you can grind it without water. The ladoo mixture should be cooled to make the ladoos properly.
