Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. 1 and 1/2 cup maida
  2. 1 cup curd
  3. 3/4th cup sugar
  4. 1/2 cup refined oil
  5. 1 tsp vanilla essence
  6. 1 tsp baking powder
  7. 1/2 tsp baking soda
  8. 2 tbsp cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Sift the maida/flour thrice and keep it aside.
  2. Whisk the curd, then add sugar, baking powder and baking soda to it. Keep it aside for 10 minutes. (You will see that the curd has become frothy.)
  3. Now add the oil, vanilla essence and mix it well. Add the maida/flour to this and mix it well again.
  4. Pour 1/2 of this mixture to another bowl and add cocoa powder to it. If you find the mixture too dry, pour in some milk and adjust it's consistency.
  5. Now take a greased baking pan and dust it with some maida/flour.
  6. Pour a spoon full of plain batter in the centre and tap the pan. Let it spread a little, now pour a spoon full of chocolate batter in the centre of the plain batter, tap the pan and let it spread a little.
  7. Continue this process till you finish the entire batter.
  8. Now with a tooth pick make lines starting from the centre to the edge of the pan. Make around 8 lines with equal gaps in between them. Start from the edges to the centre of the pan. (You will have to move the tooth pick in the opposite direction. You will get to see a beautiful pattern.)
  9. Bake this for 35 minutes in a preheated oven at 180 degrees or till a tooth pick comes out clean.
  10. Let it cool, when sliced you will see a beautiful zebra pattern.
