Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Basmati rice 4 cups(soaked for 1/2 -1hr)
  2. Mutton 1/3 kg
  3. Onions chopped 5-6
  4. Tomatoes 5-6
  5. Coriander leaves two handful
  6. Mint leaves two handful
  7. Green chillies 4
  8. Ginger garlic paste 4 tbsp +1/2 tbsp for mutton
  9. Chilli powder 3-4 tsp
  10. Curd 1/4 lit
  11. Cinnamon 2
  12. Cardamom 4
  13. Cloves 4
  14. Salt as required
  15. Oil
  16. Ghee

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan add cinnamon,Cloves and cardamom, Add some Ghee also
  2. Add onions fry it until it turns golden colour
  3. Meanwhile Pressure cook the mutton with 1/2 tbsp ginger garlic paste and required salt
  4. Mutton should be half cooked
  5. When onion turns golden colour add ginger garlic paste saute it
  6. Add green chillies ,mint and coriander leaves saute well
  7. Add the cooked mutton mix well for few minutes
  8. Add salt , Chilli powder,Tomatoes,Curd mix well
  9. If needed can be add remaining mutton stock water
  10. Close the lid let them cook as masala should become thick
  11. In a pan boil water when water starts to boil add the soaked basmati rice
  12. When the rice is half cooked drain it .dont over cook
  13. When the masala is thickened add the rice to it
  14. U can add layer by layer also
  15. Add some mint leaves on the top
  16. Cover the pan with wet cotton cloth and close the lid let in cook in sim (cook in dum)for 20-25 mins
  17. Serve hot the biriyani with raita can be garnished with fried onions and nuts
