My aunt's recipe

Dal fry

Ingredients to make Dal fry

  • onions chopped 2
  • tomatoes chopped 2
  • moong dal 1/4 cup
  • Toor da1/4 cup
  • Çhana dhal1/4 cup
  • ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • turmeric powder 1/2tsp
  • chilli powder 1tbsp
  • Garam masala 1 tsp
  • cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • salt as required
  • coriander leaves few
  • Kasuri methi 1tsp
  • asafoetida 1tsp
  • oil

How to make Dal fry

  1. Wash the dals and pressure cook with salt and asafoetida
  2. Heat oil in a pan add cumin seeds,chopped onions saute it until light brown
  3. Add ginger garlic paste saute well
  4. Add tomatoes,Turmeric powder,Chilli powder,garam masala and salt saute well until masala well cooked and thickened
  5. Add the cooked dals stir well if it is too much thick add little water
  6. Finally add coriander leaves and kasuri methi
  7. Serve hot with roti
