ABOUT Rawa Bhakri RECIPE

Rawa Bhakri originates from Mangalore, India. It is a very tasty thick dosa which is very filling as well. It is a healthy option for breakfast. Rawa Bhakri is also well known as Rawa Dhodak. I learnt this recipe from my father in law who is an absolute foodie and loves to experiment with various types of recipes.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 1 cup rawa (medium)
  2. 2 green chillies, chopped finely
  3. 1 onion, chopped
  4. 1 tomato, chopped
  5. 1 cup freshly grated coconut
  6. 2 tablespoons curd
  7. 1 and 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Wash the rawa with water and keep it aside so that it becomes soft.
  2. Mix the onion, tomato, coconut, green chillies, salt and curd together and mash them till they get mixed properly.
  3. Now add in the rawa and mix this whole mixture thoroughly. (Put in some water if needed.) The batter should be a bit thicker than a pakoda batter.
  4. Heat the tawa and put some oil on the tawa. Take the batter in your cupped hand as much as you can and put it on the tawa.
  5. Flatten it with your finger tips on the tawa to make a thick round dosa. Pour a little oil from the sides.
  6. Let the bhakri be done on one side, don't turn it or it may break. Once done on one side, turn it to other side and cook the other side as well. Then take it out on the plate.
  7. Serve the rawa bhakri with coconut chutney or tomato ketchup.
