Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 400 gm Whole surmai/Tilapia fish
  2. 1/4 Cup white vinegar
  3. 1tbsp ginger Garlic paste
  4. 1/2 cup Gram flour (Besan)
  5. 1tsp Chaat masala
  6. 1tsp Red chilli powder
  7. 1tsp turmeric powder
  8. 1tsp white pepper powder
  9. 1tsp carom seeds
  10. 1tsp salt
  11. 3tsp Rice flour
  12. 2tsp Hung curd
  13. 1/2 Cup Refined oil
  14. 1/2 Cup mustard oil


  1. Wash the fish and prick all over with the sharp Knife
  2. Rub salt and lime juice over the fish and set aside for 15minutes
  3. Mix all the Dry ingredients followed by Curd and Ginger garlic paste. Mix thoroughly to form thick paste.
  4. Apply this paste all over fish.Ensure it coated all over evenly.
  5. Combine Mustard oil and refined oil in an pan. Heat well.
  6. Deep fry the fish in moderate heat till cooked in golden brown. There by turn fish and fry other side too.
  7. Take out fish from fry pan and keep in plate
  8. Preheat an grill for medium he as t and lightly brush the cooked fish with oil.
  9. Keep the fish in wire rack and Grill for 6-8minutes..
  10. Sprinkle some Chaat masala all over. Serve hot with Mind chutney and Lemon wedges.
