Learnt this recipe from a tv show. I thought of giving this a try and it came out so so yummi. Every body liked the recipe. So I thought of sharing this.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. chicken medium cut 1/2 kg
  2. lemon juice of half a lemon
  3. For the masala paste:
  4. Small piece of cinnamon
  5. 2to3 pepercorn and clove each
  6. 2 green cardamom
  7. Small blade of javitri
  8. One tbsp khas khas
  9. One tea sp cumeen seed
  10. One tbsp whole corriander seed
  11. 1 tsp saunf
  12. Half cup grated coconut
  13. 4 to 5 dry red chili
  14. mustard Oil 2 tbsp
  15. Fresh cream
  16. FOR GRAVY:
  17. Medium onion finely chopped
  18. Fresh tomato paste one cup
  19. Whole garam masala ,cardamom, cinnamon,clove and bay leaves,
  20. Half tsp each cumin seed and saunf
  21. ginger Garlic paste 2 tbsp
  22. turmeric powder 1 tsp
  23. Chili powder 1/2 tsp
  24. salt as per taste
  25. green coriander
  26. Kasuri methi 1 tsp


  1. Wash the chicken well and drain all water. Add the lemon juice and mix well. Keep aside.
  2. Dry roast the ingredients under the masala paste except the coconut.
  3. Bring to room temperature
  4. Add coconut and grind to a smooth paste.
  5. Now heat oil in a kadhai.
  6. Sputter cumin and saunf. Add bay leaf and whole garam masalas.
  7. In my family no body likes the flavor of garam I use them less. U can adjust their quantity as per your liking.
  8. When the garam masalas start giving a nice smell add finely chopped onion.
  9. Fry till onions are light brown. Add the ground masala paste.
  10. Add ginger garlic paste,turmeric and chili powder.
  11. Saute till the masala leaves oil. Now add the chicken.
  12. Saute for 2 minutes on high flame.
  13. Add the tomato puree and mix really well.keep the flame medium.
  14. Add salt mix and cover.
  15. Stir in between. The chicken will release water.
  16. Cook covered till the chicken is cooked. Add little water in between if needed.
  17. Keep the gravy consistency as per your choice.but do not add more water the gravy will turn runny.keep a thick gravy.
  18. When chicken is cooked add 2 tbsp fresh cream and mix. Give a gentle boil.
  19. Add fresh green coriander and crushed kasuri methi on top.
  20. Switch off the flame.garnish with fresh cream and serve.
  21. Tastes best with lachha parathha. You can serve with roti, naan,paratha or even steamed rice.just enjoy the delicious chicken .
