ABOUT Chickpea Kachori RECIPE

Chickpea kachori. Indian street food snack stuffed with boiled chickpeas, boiled banana, with some roasted spices. Taste is amazing and nice golden brown color. Easy to make at home. Quick and easy recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 9

  1. For the cover :
  2. All purpose flour 3cup
  3. Carrem seeds 1tsp
  4. Salt 1 tsp
  5. Oil 1/2 cup
  6. Water 3/4 cup + 4 tbsp
  7. For Stuffing ::
  8. Boiled chickpeas 1 1/2 cup
  9. Boiled banana 2 large
  10. Ginger chilli paste 2 tbsp
  11. Salt to taste
  12. Dry mango powder 2 tsp
  13. Red chilli powder 2 tsp
  14. Roasted masala powder 3 tbsp
  15. (Cumin seeds 2 tbsp, fennel seeds 1 tbsp, coriander seeds 1 tbsp, dry red chilli 3 piece)
  16. Finely chopped coriander leaves 3 tbsp
  17. Ghee 4 tbsp
  18. Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Bring a bowl, add flour, salt, carrem seeds and oil. With the help of your finger tips,rub the oil in to the flour until it resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add water and make a soft dough. Cover this and keep it aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl add boiled chickpeas, boiled banana, salt, mango powder, red chilli powder, roasted masala powder, coriander leaves and mash it and mix well.
  3. Heat oil in a non stick pan, add ghee, ginger chilli paste and stir this for few seconds. Now add mashed chickpea mixture In it and stir this well. Keep stirring it until all the spices combine well with the mixture. Off the flame.
  4. Bring the dough and devide this into 18 equal size. Take one portion,flat this with the help of your fingers, add lemon size chickpeas mixture balls in it and cover it and flatten it with your fingers.
  5. Heat sufficient oil, when oil become moderate hot, deep fry the kachoris in a batch of 6 on low to medium heat for 15 minutes.
  6. When it turns golden in color,strain on absorbent paper. Chickpea kachoris are ready to serve. Serve hot with green mint chutney and sweet tamarind chutney.
