Aloo Bonda

Ingredients to make Aloo Bonda

  • potatoes - 4, boiled and mashed
  • green chillies - 4-5, finely chopped
  • lemon- 1/2 a wedge
  • ginger, finely chopped - 2 tsp
  • gram flour - 4 tbsp
  • Rice flour - 1 tbsp
  • red chilli Powder - 2 Tsp
  • salt - to taste
  • turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  • oil for Deep frying

How to make Aloo Bonda

  1. In a bowl, add the mashed potatoes, green chillies, turmeric powder, salt, ginger and squeeze half a lemon. Mix it well and keep aside.
  2. In another bowl, mix the gram flour/besan, rice flour, red chilli powder, salt. Add water and make a batter that's not too thick.
  3. Heat oil in a pan to deep fry.
  4. Make little balls of the potato mixture, dip it in the batter and fry them until they are crisp.
  5. Serve them hot with coconut chutney.
