Aloo Matar

Ingredients to make Aloo Matar

  • potatoes 4 medium sized, diced
  • peas 1 cup
  • onion paste 3/4 cup
  • tomato puree 3 tbsp
  • ginger and garlic 2 tbsp, chopped
  • oil 3 tbsp
  • cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder 1 tbsp
  • Garam masala 1 tsp
  • Degi mirch 1 tsp
  • green chillies 2-3, chopped
  • Dried methi leaves 1 tbsp
  • water approximately 5 cups
  • coriander leaves 2 tbsp
  • salt to taste

How to make Aloo Matar

  1. In a pressure cooker, heat oil then add in the cumin seeds, degi mirch, turmeric, ginger, garlic, onions and saute till it's translucent.
  2. Add the tomatoes, garam masala, methi leaves and cook till the oil separates itself.
  3. Add in the potatoes, peas, water and salt. Cover and cook till it's done or 5-6 whistles blow.
  4. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.

My Tip:

It tastes good with rice, boondi and yogurt.
